As of late, we have received several spam comments to stories.

I'm thinking of perhaps friend locking the site after this wave.

Again, I don't mind friending people to sentinelsecrets.  I think the friends list is a great list of lj sentinel fans here.  I go through occasionally to add to my friends list.

May I suggest instead, "comment screening" for non-friends? That way, the honest fan who just doesn't have an LJ can comment, but you can keep out the nasties.

I second L's suggestion. For a community-like journal as SentinelSecrets I think f-locking it should only come as a last resort. But I hear you on the spam being a major pain in the ass, of course, and it's your decision ultimately what you wanna do (and think you can manage doing) about it. Comment screening might be more time consuming for you.
